Houzzer Profile: Victoria Lurye, Industry Solutions
Victoria is a member of our Industry Solutions team. Based in Orange County, she has been a member of the Houzz team for more than six years. She recently hit a milestone and closed her one thousandth sale!
When she’s not helping pros from the Houzz community to get the most out of using Houzz, Victoria can be found trying new restaurants, traveling, spending time with friends and family and playing with her 11-year old German Shepherd, Baron.
How did you get started in sales?
I’ve been in sales for a large portion of my life. When I was nine years old, my friend and I made holiday cards and sold them door to door. In college, I majored in Communications with a minor in Broadcast Journalism, but after school was drawn back into sales.
How did you first hear about Houzz?
While browsing LinkedIn many years ago, a photo of a big, beautiful kitchen came up in my feed and it was from Houzz. The post talked about the company culture and friendly work environment — it sounded like a great fit, so I applied right away.
What do you enjoy most about your role at Houzz?
I’m super passionate about the product and believe in its positive impact for the home remodeling and design professionals I work with. It’s very fulfilling to impact clients’ lives for the better and help them reach their professional goals.
What is your favorite feature for Pros on Houzz?
I’m a very visual person and love the photostream. I think it’s super helpful because a lot of people don’t know what they want for their home until they see it. It has a positive impact on professionals as well because they often get hired by homeowners who find with them through the photostream.
What do you like most about working at Houzz?
Houzz is my second home! I love the people here and what makes it special is that everyone, no matter their role, always finds time to help and listen; we really are a family. It’s also great how Adi (Houzz cofounder and CEO) truly cares about the Houzz team and the professionals in the Houzz community.
What are you most proud of at Houzz?
I’m most proud of the positive impact I’ve had for the pros I work with. Often, they’ll visit me at trade shows or email me and share stories of how much Houzz has changed their life. My father is a small business owner and it means a lot to be able to help others grow and develop their businesses.
What advice do you have for others looking to start a career in sales?
Success doesn’t happen with just luck. It’s a combination of showing up, working hard and staying focused. But most importantly, believe in yourself and if you don’t succeed the first time, it’s ok, just try again tomorrow.
Are you a morning person or an afternoon person?
I’m a night owl, but make myself into a morning person during the week. I like to wake up early and take my dog for a 10-15 minute walk before the rest of the world wakes up, then grab my daily coffee and get my day going.
