Ron Lee is endlessly curious, whether he’s trying a new recipe shared by his daughter or discovering smarter ways to approach his work. As vice president of Revenue Operations, he brings that same curiosity to a role that connects with teams across Houzz, helping them work more effectively and stay focused on the needs of the Houzz pro community.

How would you describe what you do at Houzz?
I help our teams engage with pros in ways that fit how they run their businesses, while making the processes, systems, data and training behind those interactions as simple and effective as possible. A big part of that is helping teams stay focused on what pros actually need and aligning around the priorities that will make the biggest difference.

What is the best part about working here?
The people. It’s especially important in a primarily remote company to take the time to really get to know the people you work with, not just talk about the project in front of you. I’ve found there’s a genuine culture of people who care about what they’re doing and about each other. At the same time, you’re trusted to move things forward, which gives you a great balance of collaboration, structure and autonomy.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
No two days look the same, and I really value that. There is always something new to learn and new challenges to work through. I also enjoy questioning whether we’re doing something a certain way simply because that’s how it has always been done. Whether we’re introducing a new tool, automating a manual process or uncovering meaningful new data that helps us make more informed decisions, there’s always an opportunity to simplify how we work and make better use of the team’s time.

What’s your favorite Houzz Pro feature?
The Room Scanner. It’s easy to use, and there’s a lot of potential in making that experience even more connected. Pros have told us they love that they’re able to quickly capture room measurements and create editable floor plans.

What’s something that has surprised you about working here?
I knew there was a strong opportunity at Houzz before I joined, but I’m excited by the potential to keep evolving the way we engage with pros. They’re busy and want to interact with businesses in ways that are simple and convenient for them. I’m enjoying building on what we’re already doing, combining technology with human support so we can continue meeting pros where they are and making their experience even easier.

What advice would you give someone thinking about joining Houzz?
Come in ready to learn and build relationships. I always encourage people to get to know colleagues outside their immediate teams. In a remote environment, those connections don’t always happen automatically, but they’re incredibly valuable. It’s important to stay curious, take advantage of opportunities to keep developing your skills and be open to new ways of working.

What makes you most excited about the future of Houzz?
I think we’re at an important point in the company’s journey. We have an opportunity to keep making it easier for pros to understand how Houzz Pro can help their businesses, get started in the way that works for them and access support when they need it. Technology and AI can help us simplify a lot of those experiences, and customer relationships will continue to matter enormously. Finding the right balance between technology and genuine human connection excites me.

What do you do when you’re not working?
Like most people, I really value time with my family. I love cooking with my daughter, who is always introducing me to new and creative recipes, and playing pickleball with my son when he’s home from university. I also enjoy going for walks or hikes with my wife, Felicia. It’s a great way for us to get outside, enjoy nature and spend some time away from screens.
